Biography

Djalma Limongi Batista (1947-2023) was an amazonian filmmaker based in São Paulo, where he directed much of his filmography from the 1960's to the 1990's. He is considered to be the first brazilian director to ever depict gay intimacy in the short film "Um clássico, dois em casa, nenhum jogo fora" (1968). Batista also worked as a university teacher, where he made himself key to the education of many of Brazil's young filmmakers of today.
